Mercury Marine has introduced two new Racing outboards and a new mid-power Mercury Jet outboard, as well as announcing new color options for the FourStroke 150 hp.
During an event with the specialized press at the Cannes Boat Show, Mercury Racing announced the new 150R and 200R outboard engines, developed on the basis of a V6 block.
With a displacement of 3.4 liters, these V6 outboards are designed to deliver exceptional starting and acceleration without the weight of a V8. Transient ignition technology electronically adjusts spark timing as needed, producing additional torque for faster acceleration. At full throttle, the 150R develops up to 6,000 rpm, while the 200R reaches an incredible 6,400 rpm.
These outboards incorporate the full suite of features of Mercury Marine’s V6 platform, including the Digital Shift and Throttle System (DTS), which gives the skipper precise and seamless engine control. Fuel economy is also optimized through integrated, GPS-enabled features such as Mercury’s Activ Trim, adaptive speed control and advanced range optimization, which provides precise refueling throughout the operating range.
The 150R and 200R are equipped with a larger, 85-amp alternator. Mercury’s integrated battery management system ensures that sufficient electrical power is always available onboard.
Notably, the 200R is offered with two different transmission configurations: Torque Master-designed for race boats and high-performance boats in the 80 to 85 mph range-and Sport Master-designed for high-performance boats that reach speeds from 135 to more than 160 km/h (90 to 100 mph). Both feature 20-inch shafts, while the 150R is available with 20- and 25-inch shafts.
FourStroke Series
Mercury Marine has also announced that the Mercury 150 hp FourStroke is now available in Cold Fusion White color, in addition to the flagship Phantom Black. The addition of the Cold Fusion White color, in response to requests from a number of offshore customers, is aimed at minimizing the appearance of salt spray on the engine and keeping it cooler to the touch in sunny conditions.
The mid-range of the FourStroke series is also expanded with the new 105 hp Jet. This Jet outboard, built on the FourStroke 150 hp platform, offers 105 hp and is the ideal solution for enthusiasts who want to safely cruise in shallower waters while still enjoying the intuitive operation and reliability of Mercury FourStroke technology.
